Title sequance influenced by other film openings (PLANNING)

Title sequance influenced by other film openings (PLANNING)
Most title sequences have influenced us in many ways. Below i have clearly indicated those that have influenced us most and aspects we will be using later on to make the best film opening we can when creating the opening for our thriller.

The Woman in Black title sequence trailer
The costumes for the opening of our thriller was inspired by the new film The woman in black. Throughout the trailer we see the main character stands at the windowed then accompanied by a shadowed terrifying looking ghost figure standing next to him. The ghost at this part is looking behind the characters shoulder wearing black. In our film we will use is element as part of intertextuality, however instead of the character not knowing that the ghost is there the character will, as she will be tortured by it having to do everything that the ghost tells her to. Getting the costume will be hard to find but will play a major part within the scene. Instead of the characters (ghost) being shadowed we will see the ghost to be very scary looking by providing props such as yellow contact lenses to create suspense towards the audience.
The Tudors
Another inspiration is put forward through the opening of the tudors. The television drama in 2007 was based around Henry the VIII. The stile of the title sequence was a great inspiration as it included many jump cuts, flashes and stills from the Victorian era. The camera shots used in this opening vary and the pace of the images tend to get faster to create much more suspense and tension. Again we see using fast jump cuts gives the viewers not much detail in what the image is showing but only the image it self. This is a positive aspect of using jump cuts as the audience will be able to reflect upon this once they have finished the film, jump cuts set a clear outline of what the main focus will be based around. We will be using this opening as an influential piece as it shows great effect that will be
good to use in a thriller opening as it hasn't been used before.
Arlington road
Arlington road was the final example which influenced us as a group. The film opening of Arlington road was discrete which influenced our decision when deciding one for our thriller opening. In the opening of arlington road a few jump cuts are used followed by a variety of images the audience can focus on mostly tend to be negative. Throughout this opening we see we are always referred back to current events which have happened on the road which gives us some information of what could of happened. We will think to use this for our thriller opening as we will have a lot of jump cuts of the name of the park 'Culpepper Park' numerous amounts of times to show the connection of the killer and the park.

Overall to conclude looking at different openings of films helped us a lot as we were able to see the ideas of other movies and therefore generate one. doing this also aloud us to think more about the costumes we could use and how we can make it more effective.
