There are many features which makes a good thriller. They tend to be adrenaline rushing and fast paced, and often the central character faces a great danger, also a good thriller should have a effective plot with twists and turns.

Here are a few examples of just some of the best thriller films:




Memento is 2000 psychological thriller and it was a box office success. It hold a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes (a website that aggregates professional critiques). It was nominated at the Academy awards for Original Screenplay and Film Editing. Many medical experts have said that the film is one of the most realistic and accurate depictions of amnesia in any motion picture.   





Zodiac is a 2007 mystery thriller, and it is based on the novel with the same name. The film is about Zodiac, a notorious serial killer who in San Francisco, during the late 1960’s and early 1970’s, the case remains on of San Francisco’s most infamous unsolved crimes. The film received highly positive reviews and holds a 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. 





Sixth sense is a 1999 psychological thriller written and directed by M. Night Shylaman, who had a cameo performance in the film. The film was nominated for six academy award, including Best Picture, and it holds a 85% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.





The Silence of the Lambs is a 1991 thriller and is based on the novel of the same name. The film gradually gained widespread critical acclaim and holds a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It also won five major awards at the academy awards: Best Picture, Best Actress(Jodie Foster),Best) Actress(Anthony Hopkins),Best Director(Jonathan Demme) and Best Adapted Screenplay(Ted Tally).





Se7en is a 1995 thriller. It stars Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman, Gwyneth Paltrow, R.Lee Ermey And Keith Spacey. It was a commercial success and was highly acclaimed by critics. It was the seventh-highest grossing film of 1995 and it hold a 85% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.





Sin City in a 2005 crime thriller and it stars Bruce Willis. It was written, produced and directed by Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez. The film received critical acclaim and commercial success.







Black Swan is a 2010 psychological thriller. It was directed by Darren Avonofsky and stars Natalie Portman, Vincent Cassel and Mila Kunis. The film received widespread acclaim from critics.
