Time Line of a title sequence

Time Line of title sequence
The time line of a title sequence vary through different films, showing different conventions that are significant for a film opening. The time line sequence for Marathon Man 1976 showed different conventions of film openings. Although we see most film openings have the name of producers appear right at the start or A list actors we see that the names may appear before the film title to represent the struggle between who is the most important, this clearly represents the different's from the timeline differing to the conventions of the film. Looking at the title we see the title of the film doesn't appear often, Looking at the conventions of this film in which this case is identified to be a classic 1976 thriller is shown to start of with the main character running a marathon where later on we then see the title being introduced across the screen to give the connotations that the title is also to do with the action that is taken place. The title of the film has great significance as it just not only tells us what the film is called but also gives us information about the main character.Below i have shown some shots of the timeline from the classic thriller Marathon

In the above image the start of the timeline shows what we see at the start of the thriller. We clearly see the production company was what was identified first at 4 seconds then followed by the production company at 16 seconds. This is shown to be different from other film openings such as the god farther as we see we are not introduced to the name of the film at first , this suggests that the characters and production of the film is more important and is the main focus.

Coming towards the middle of the film once the casts have been introduced at 0.45,46,48,49,59 seconds, we then go on to see the title at 1.05 seconds. The title is shown to run across the screen. Then followed by the pitchers of the character and the co starting at 1.24 seconds.

Towards the end we see the film then introduces us to the producers of the music, props, editing, photography and many more, The clip is then shown to end with the directors name at 2.15 mins
s

The above  image is the shown to state the production and distributer of the companie. Paramount (A western company logo) paramount is shown to be part of the sequence whilst being introduced to the film
.

The character above is shown to come after us being introduced to the director of the film , at this stage we see that  the image shown has many similarities to what the film is about giving us a brief idea of what the movie could be based on.
Looking at the above image we see that the main character, then is shown to be blurred giving viewers the indication that there is more than one side to this character, and there is more than just the focus of the main character a shown in the background above.
This is where viewers are introduced to the director of the film at 22 seconds. This is shown to be placed before the title showing that the director as well as the casts are significant and should be the main focus the viewers should focus on. Looking at the  way the director has been represented is in the centre alone this shows us that this is what we should focus on and shouldn't look at any thing else. The font is shown to be simple and white also easy to read as it is reflected upon the black background.
Once being introduced to the director and the main character we then go onto see the title of the film being shown. The title appears at 1.05 seconds after the character is shown to run the Marathon. The title being shown at this stage is shown to link with the action taken place behind, as we see that the character is running as well as the title when it is shown to slide into the screen. The title doesn't just show us what the film is named but also lets viewers understand why they have been used at certain times and also gives us a story.
Directors being introduced in plain white font with less detail in the background to show the main focus is the director.
We are then introduced to the producer of the music where we see who it is conducted and composed by. The font is shown to be continues throughout, however whilst being introduced to this the background  is shown to be brighter showing more detail in the setting of the start of the film

Through the title sequence we see that the producers  are presented continuously until the end of the film, they are all shown to have a clear background to give an idea of where it has been set.
Director of Photography

Marathon Man is conventional to the norm of the title sequence. Looking at various thrillers such as the step farther, we see the title sequence is based on the one above as most start of with the production companies and the distributer then followed by the title, producers of music , costume editing and also sound. Marathon man is shown to vary from the step farther as we see the producers are introduced before  the title appears  allowing viewers to see that the producers are more important than the title . Although we see that this attracts viewers this may represent struggle with the people who are shown to be staring in the film making the audience wonder who is the most important. institutional information such as the production company and the directors of the film are always shown to appear twice allowing the audience to see how much authority they have and to show the important roles they play. The title and credits identified in this film are shown to be simple and easy to read. Having font that is easy to read plays a huge part as it sets the mood of the film. The font of Marathon Man is shown to be lower case and separated from one another (separated) this gives us the connotation that the character in some way may be separated from a particular situation within the film. Finally the colour used is white, this colour has been used to make the focus clear and allowing it to stand out. The connotations off using white is both positive and negative, positive in some ways of representing neutrality and negative representing  cold death and also the timing in which it has been set.
