Arlington Road- Final cut editing

Arlington Road- Final cut editing
During the lesson we had looked at various clips linked with Arlington road. The task was to put the clips in chronological order from what we thought was first and last using the final cut softwear. This enabled us to see how much we had learnt about film openings using the information gathered to find this out. Once we finished putting the clips in chronological order we then had to use final cut to add the directors names, producers name, casts, the name of the film and so on. This task involved my group to work more with the programe allowing us to understand more about using final cut. Once doing this we then had to take on board and consider the colours we were going to use, the font of the text, positioning of the font and also where it was placed on the clip.
The below sequence is a clip that has been taken from Arlington road. It has been re- edited to create a different and more interesting opening from the original. The titles show to give the directors name first, then followed by the producer and some of the casts names. Whilst the clip carries on the title is then introduced half-way through where the character looks up to a blurred sky which then fades out were we then see the view of the street. This was effective as it gave the viewers an idea of what was going on making sure not to much information is given away causing tension in making them want to know what will happen next.
Arlington Road

Overall to improve the opening sequenced of Arlington road more titles will need to be added such as the editor, who the music is by, cinematography and so on. The transition of each of the titles will need to be improved from being sharp cuts between them to fade in, fade outs and also dissolve cuts using these types off cuts will fit in with the sequence as there tends to be a lot of blurred scenes. The session on using final cut to add titles, was useful as it aloud our group to experiment and have an idea of how it worked.
