Example of Title sequences

Example of Titles used in thrillers and effects given
Titles of movies in which this case thrillers are shown to be different in the way they look and how they are represented. Titles being used in films are used to show not only the name of the film but also gives the audience some detail of the characters and a brief storyline that can be generated from this. Certain conventions used in titles generate this such as the font, spacing of text, colour and where the text is placed within the frame. Most colours of texts and fonts are all shown to be similar whilst looking at different thriller movies , most tend to be alone showing the main focus having  the colours black white and blue. All these colours are shown to be serious and are able to stand out some are identified below. The most common text used in thrillers are comic sans and times of new roman.
Memento 2000
Memento is based around a man, suffering from short-term memory loss, who uses notes and tattoos to hunt for the man he thinks killed his wife. The heading of Memento is represented in a way in which viewers are able to identify what the title i saying. Looking at the title Memento we see that the words are very separated (big gap) from one another. The font being separated shows that this could link to the amount of gap between the characters memory loss, as the text being separated shows us that he may also be lost and separated from his wife. The colour is shown to be blue giving us the connotation of a natural, masculine colour also giving us the representation of a cold colour. The titles font is shown to be easy and simple to read all based around the same hight with the same distance.
Psycho 1998
A young woman steals $40,000 from her employer's client, and subsequently encounters a young motel proprietor too long under the domination of his mother.  The title of psycho is shown to be clearly represented allowing the audience to see what the title says. The colour of the font again is shown to be plain white and simple. However the text is shown to be different from the one shown above as we see the text above is shown to be place tightly together.
Phone Booth 2002
Stuart Shepard is shown to find himself trapped in a phone booth, pinned down by an extortionist's sniper rifle struggling to get out. This title is represented to be plain simple with long bold font. This title being represented like this also shows a lot of tension allowing viewers to see what kind of thriller this may be. Using a the word phone in the title could suggest the person is being trapped and lost who may be having a convocation.

We Need To Talk About Kevin 2011
The mother of a teenage boy who went on a high-school killing spree tries to deal with her grief - and feelings of responsibility for her child's actions. The title of the above image is shown to be different from the ones identified above. The title We need to talk about kevin is shown to be based around different font sizes. Looking at this heading we see that kevin is the largest font, this suggests to viewers that this is the main focus and is the character that is shown to be focused on the most throughout.

Overall to conclude looking at various amounts of titles from different thrillers aloud me to look at the ways they are represented. The titles made me think about the conventions that most of them use which will help me later on when thinking of a title for our thriller. Looking and analysing the fonts above i found the most important conventions used were the colours, fonts, style and where the text is placed within the frame. These were significant as with these viewers are able to generate the mood and a brief storyline of what the movie will be about, most of them above gave us detail about the main character.
