FILM ANALYSIS OF A HORROR FILM TO SEE WHAT ASPECTS COULD BE USED FOR OUR OPENING THRILLER?

Hide and seek is a classic horror film however the concepts within the film I believe would be very useful for some parts of our film opening. The poster and title of the film instantly tells us there is either a child in it or its about someone who was a child.

Effect of the writing in the Poster
The writing on the top of the poster was written in children's handwriting to allow us to see the fact that a child must be a big factor in the story. The fact that the word 'Hide' is big and almost comes away from the title and the rest of the words and really stands out makes us feel that the fact someone would need to hide sends a chill down the spine and makes you feel the fear that's coming. The writing in the bottom of the poster the title 'hide and seek' is all blurry to symbolise the fact that parts are missing maybe someone in the film is never found or maybe the person has parts of themselves missing or isn't fully their but all of these elements add to the thrill of the film itself.

Effect if the image and colour in the poster of the film and how it allows us to feel the genre through it

The picture of the little girl at the window is very frightening because she is completely blacked out but behind her is a blinding orange beam as if there is fire behind her. This may lead to the idea that her home is hell and the idea of a little girl looking out of her window when its pitch black outside is very thrilling because why would she be looking out there, normal children are asleep at dark. The camera shot of the house is a long shot from a low angle to show the significance and the power of the house in the story.
