GENRE AND SUBGENRES

Today we looked at genres an sub dramas and what exactly that means a genre is the type of movie whether it be romance comedy,triller, horror or action. The sub genre is a genre within a genre for example we looked at two thrillers today the 'Others' and 'Fair game' which is one of the films im looking into. We seen that they were both thrillers but 'Fair Game' was a crime thriller so its a genre within a genre.





 < This film is an erotic drama so 'drama' is the genre and the 'erotic' part is the sub genre. The target audience are probably middle age or an older audience or those who understand the danger of being a women in a affair and the way it can hurt your family when  she allows her hormones to take over. A signifier to show us that the film is dramatic is the title firstly the way it has the 'un' in the title is a dark colour to allow us to see the significance of her not being faithful which is in  bright white writing as if saying this is the right way to be but she's in the darker an wrong place this is to make it seem all that more dramatic to the audience an the people that see this title.  Another signifier that shows us the fact that this film is sexual and is going to be very dramatic as the women is lying on  the torso of a man and the fact we cannot see his face makes us think why is this. This leads us to believe this is not her husband as we can see clearly a wedding ring in the picture.
The last signifier in the picture is the fact the director also did fatal attraction and indecent proposal, they obviously are the type of director that specialises in dramas of the romance and taking the wrong paths. The titles used are clear signifiers to this 'unfaithful' ,'fatal' and 'indecent'.

<The next film and genre I looked into was for the film 'Fair Game' this was of the genre thriller and the subgenre was the fact it was a crime. The target audience for this film is probably male aged to 29 who enjoy a good thriller. A signifier in this film poster  that shows us the fact that its thriller crime film is the the central intelligence logo around the top of it and the man in the background holding a gun. Another signifier in the poster for the film is the clothing the man and women are wearing particularly the women. The stereotypical idea that detectives wear black trench coats at work is used to give us the sense of crime adds to the idea that this film is a crime . Another signifier to show us this is a crime film is the writing in red beneath the title telling us 'wife,mother,spy' letting us know the film will be mainly about her which we can gather from her being in the centre of the poster anyway.
