STRUCTURES OF FILM OPENINGS
Arlington Road - discrete

Discrete title sequences are used to show as much as they can to the audience right from the start.  Discrete sequences are edited very much. Discrete title sequences give the audience a mass of information before the film has been introduced this is a good way to allow audiences to make guesses on what the films about before the title is revealed. The fast jump cuts in discrete openings leave the audience pondering what exactly is going on.

Panic Room- traditional

Above is the opening to the film Panic room this type of film opening is the Traditional . The traditional structure is the most commonly used in thriller films as it places the scene of where the films going to happen and gets you interested with the different places shown. Panic Room is based on a woman and her teenage daughter  locked in a panic room by 3 criminals in there own home. The film is based in New York as we learn from the opening with the credits being placed as if part of the buildings in New York city. Underneath are a few screen shots of the way the writing seems to look like part of the buildings.

Mezrine - stylised

The film openings structure is the stylised structure this type opening is very sophisticated and takes effort to create, the opening looks very action filled and we see the shots very fast and what is going on but from different camera angles. Mezrine is a stylised opening and the shots below show clearly that its a stylised structure.

Dead Calm- credits over a blank screen

This above is the film opening structure called credits over a blank screen its not very effective to me I find it really boring but the only things that can help give away the type of film it is is the writing and the music if their is any. There are no images and no give away.
