Title Sequence Analysis

As a group today we analysed the title sequence of the 1976 thriller Marathon Man, so that we can learn what needs to be included in ours, and we also watched the title sequences of The Stepfather (2009), The Roomate (2009) and Memento (2000).

Marathon Man has a conventional title sequence; the name of the film is reflected by the font, it seems to appear quite fast, especially the title of film. It appears while the central character is jogging, and it slides from left to right quite fast.

The institutional information appears twice in the title sequence, the very first thing to appear on the screen is the logo of the production company paramount, then just after the name appears. Like most thriller films, the font was very simple, and it can often represt the genre or hint at the main plot of the film.

The first thing to appear was the production company, the logo then the name.

Then appeared the producer's names.

Then the director's name.

Then came the main cast, the film title and the co-stars names.

After that came the names of the music compusers and conducters, the editor, the production designer and the people in charge of screenplay.

It ended with the producer's and the director's name again.
