INSPIRATION FROM THE WOMAN IN BLACK

The Woman in Black is a horror fiction novel based in 1983 written by Susan Hill. The non fiction novel(television film)is about a young solicitor (Arthur Kipps), who is called to a market town on the east coast for a funeral of Mrs Alice Drablow an elderly and reclusive widow who lived alone. In 2012 a film adaption was released staring Daniel Radcliffe.

In 2012 a new edition of the woman and black has been made into a film from a novel which stars actors like Daniel Radcliffe. The woman in black has been made into a thriller which is shown to be companied by hammer film productions. Hammer film productions,  founded in 1934 that is famous for its gothic hammer horrors. The Woman in Black being remade are as scary as the ones that have been made before. The film is a exciting tense ghost story that still today keeps everyone at suspense and total fright when watching it.
We have been inspired with the ghost who is in the background and intertextually used it in our thriller opening .I myself went and watched the film in the cinema and found it very thrilling ,with regards to our film we have really taken the ideas and concepts from the woman in black into our film. We have used the idea of someone who had died and been left to haunt in a specific place our place being the Culpeper park.

The window scene to the right we mimicked in our film with our charcter being Culpeper a dead tudor from the past. We found it hard to get the scene right as we didnt want the ghost to be in the whole shot we wanted to come up with a way to make the ghost suddenly appear and we found out that you can do this by taking the same shot twice. The ghost as you can see has a white face, so we also used this effect in our opening.
