Adding Sound

Adding Sound
Adding the sound was crucial and would be something that will need to be added after the rough cut was done. The sound was challenging and interesting to do as we needed to use a software which we did not use before, that had a variety of skills which were both simple and complex to use.
When thinking of creating the sound for our opening we used the previous research of soundtracks that are used in most thrillers. The soundtrack from the thriller Insidious gave us the similar tension we wanted to see in our own thriller as it builded up tension we wanted. I have taken some screen shots below of the programme where i had edited sound on.

The soundtrack from Fatal Attraction was one idea that inspired us when thinking of sound. Although this film isn't a supernatural thriller the sound still inspired and created the suspense and tension which was needed. When creating our sound on Garage band we used high pitched sounds to link to the moment where Ethel commits murder.

The sound from most thriller openings were very engaging. Arlington Road soundtrack was inspirational in many ways as it was high pitched creating a lot of suspense for the viewers. Arlington road uses a mixture of fast up temp to slow the pacing of the sounds which are played during the opening of the thriller.  Arlington road is a discrete opening and links with what we would like to use when we are creating our opening.  Arlington road links with our ideas as the style of the sequence will be discrete and we will also be able to get examples of sound from this.

We will use these examples which we have blogged about to inspire us when making and putting our sound into our edited film during the lesson.

Overall to conclude, the sound making task was interesting as it challenged us to make a soundtrack from scratch which meet the standards of an original thriller soundtrack.
