Introduction to cameras

After the health and safety tutorial we used the cameras for the first time, to practise and experiment with different types of shots.

This is a wide shot, which shows an area, sometimes with a character in it, showing them in full length. Wide shots can be used to set the scene.

    

This is a close up, close ups can be used to show a character's emotions.

This is a over the shoulder shot, where the camera shows things from the shoulder of a character, this type of shot can be used when two characters are in conversation.
