conventions of film openings draft

What are the conventions of film openings? Use images/clips from class to illustrate

Film openings have various amounts of conventions in order for the film to appeal and attract the audience. The way films use props, music, title of people, cuts etc makes us clearly see the conventions within the film allowing the audience build up an image of what the film is about. (Examples are shown below)

Arlington Road is an example of us seeing the conventions within the opening of the film. At the start we see a numerous amount of cuts are used to give the audience a clear image of where the opening has been set in which this case is focused on two places. The music that is used also create tension allowing the viewers of the film feel interested in what may happen next. Music is an important convention in this case as we see without music the mood of the clip won't be set therefore creating a boring scene that no one will be interested in
