Rough Cut Feedback

Rough Cut Feedback

Once we had finished the rough cut for our thriller we then asked a teacher to view our work to see the views they had upon it allowing them to give us feedback on what could be improved when editing the final draft.
When viewing our clip there were 4 main aspects that were picked upon when editing which will need to be improved when making the final draft, as shown below here are some aspects in which we were told to focus on and change.

Which sequence we actually wanted: there was a lot of confusion with the sequence of our film opening. The sequence our group had decided was discrete however we were shown to have many aspects of a traditional title sequence. This aloud our opening to be confusing as the storyline wasn’t making sense. We were told to think about what title sequence we wanted before we continued the editing process.

Order of footage: The order of the footage was another aspect that was picked on which needed work. The order of our footage was very confusing which made it very hard to understand when people were watching it back. We were told as a group to think of how we would like the audience to connect with the characters and the places together, as it was important people understood who the people are. When told this we then had to think and rearrange parts of the sequence into place where it made more sense and easy for viewers to get.

Culpepper park sign: Culpepper Park was the location which was used which linked with what the story was about. The sign was something in which the teacher found something to improve which would look more effective if we used it in our opening. When filming we had only taken one shot of the sign which wasn’t straight which didn’t fit in the frame. We were told to film the sign with the JVC camera from different angles to be more effective where the viewers will be able to identify the name of the park clearly.

Editing effects: There were many effects on final cut which we had used in order to create an effect. When previewing the footage back to the teacher we found out that making a colour effect will reflect the story effectively and be more interesting to watch.

Overall to conclude the feedback which we had received from the teacher was useful as it made us think more about our opening. When using the advice from teachers we then decided to make a new storyboard which aloud us to change the sequence in which it was played. Doing the story board set out a clear structure then allowing us as a group to process it onto final cut.
